To those who suffer under the misapprehension that our corporate press is ”liberal.”

Regarding your questionable thesis, we will simply have to respectfully disagree… 

I will certainly not wade through all the weird blogs, huffing and puffing vitriol, and propaganda which attempts to present its bias as “objectivity.”

Here is my most current take on the subject of the mythical “liberal press” promulgated by Rovian rhetoraticians, rabble-rousing syncophants, and the odd bloggers who follow their talking points.

I think that most reporters and writers in the US media are understandably liberal. This is a liberal nation. It is our liberal traditions and commitment to human rights and dignity which allowed us to declare our nationhood and, over time, to stand tall and proud as a beacon for freedom. Having said that… there is a clear difference between those who write the news and those who publish it. The owners of the presses, wire services, magazines, newspapers, and broadcasting stations are the ones who determine what gets published, broadcast, or delivered as news. These owners are, for the most part, not liberal. In fact, the vast majority are apologists for George Bush at worst… and uninterested in providing real journalism at best.

You may believe otherwise, but reality persists.
